Why do you need to get a smog check? Chances are you were directed to have an inspection done when you received your renewal notice, which means once you get a smog you will be paying your registration, right?
Now when you come to Smog Dog P.D. YOU CAN DO BOTH!
You can have your vehicle smogged and registered at the same time. We even issue the stickers and registration documents on the spot!
How does it work?
Read your notice, bring it in with any other required documents (i.e. Proof of current insurance) and your payment.
Then we process your registration and payment, make copies, issue you your new stickers and documents and that’s it! YOUR DONE!
How can I pay for my registration?
We ask that you please pay your registration with cash, check, or debit card (pin required). You can pay for your registration and smog using one form of payment or break them up, its your choice (i.e. write a check for registration and use a credit card for your smog)
Do I need to get a smog to register my vehicle at Smog Dog?
Not at all, you can register your vehicle at Smog Dog even during periods where you are not required to obtain a smog inspection.
Is there an additional fee for this service?
Yes, there is a small fee in addition to the registration fee collected when we process a registration, we do offer discounts when you get your smog and registration on the same visit.
GOT TAGS?
Don’t get caught with expired registration!
Section 4000(a)(1) of the California vehicle code states: “No person shall drive, move, or leave standing upon a highway, or in an off-street public parking facility, any motor vehicle… unless it is registered and the appropriate fees have been paid under this code…”
Don’t get towed!
Section 22651(o)(a) authorizes a police officer to tow your vehicle if found: “With a registration expiration date in excess of six months before the date it is found or operated on the highway, public lands, or the off-street parking facility.”

“All they do is smog testing, and they were quick & efficient. Walk-ins only, no appointments. About $60; for an extra $10 they can process your registration renewal & you walk out the door with your tags & paperwork. (I couldn't do it because of a previous PNO that wasn't cleared out of the system.) Nice little waiting room, and a great french bulldog mascot that will love you to death!”
